Josh Fink

Josh is a passionate performer, composer, and teacher.  He spent three years as a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago where he also taught through Civic’s Musicorps program.  Josh has played under many great maestros including Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Muti, Oliver Knussen, Pinchas Zukerman, and Pierre Boulez.  His teachers include Hans Jensen, Jeff Bradetich, Rob Kassinger, Peter Lloyd, Joel Quarrington, and Daxun Zhang.  Josh has performed as a soloist with the Northwestern University Philharmonia Orchestra.

An enthusiastic chamber musician, Josh has performed a complete production of Stravinsky’s Histoire du soldat with violinist Rachel Barton Pine, two summers of chamber music concerts at Meadowmount, and many performances with Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra musicians.  His group The Gentlemen of NUCO, which he founded and managed, competed and appeared multiple times on the TV show America’s Got Talent.

As a composer, Josh is continually writing music for his bands and for films.  Samples of his work are presented on walkingbow.com.

Josh loves teaching and currently has students studying classical and jazz bass with him. One of his students was recently accepted into Northwestern University’s jazz program. Josh received both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Northwestern University, where he graduated with honors.
