Eric Seligman

Originally from Scarsdale, New York, Eric studied music and English at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where he has finished his coursework and will graduate in June of 2012.  Beginning trumpet at the age of nine, Eric went on to study music at institutions including Interlochen Center for the Arts, Juilliard Pre-College, Tanglewood Music Center, Hoff-Barthelson Music School as well as Northwestern Unversity, and has studied primarily with Chris Bubolz, Kevin Cobb, Vince DiMartino, Professors Barbara Butler and Charlie Geyer of Northwestern, and Christopher Martin of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to being a trumpet player, Eric is an avid multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and educator, and works in styles of music including rock, jazz, reggae, hip hop, classical, and film music.  Eric’s groups have appeared on bills with bands such as The Decemberists and Tally Hall, and he has collaborated in live performance with musicians including Guster, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Rotimi, and Vince DiMartino as well as musicians of the Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Puerto Rico Symphony.

Eric teaches private lessons as well as rock workshops focusing on writing music and musical communication. Many of his compositions, film credits and current bands or ensembles are presented on walkingbow.com.
